Written in early November 2026. The schedule and ticket prices come from the official ticket sale. Road closures and gate times are from last season's event and will be updated when the town announces the 2027 arrangements. Schedule for 2027
| Day | What | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Friday 15 January | Official training, then qualification for Sunday | 15:15 and 17:15 |
| Saturday 16 January | Team event | 16:00 |
| Sunday 17 January | Individual event | 16:00 |
The times come from the official ticket sale run by the Polish Ski Association. The World Cup calendar is set by FIS, and start times can slip by a quarter of an hour or more, especially in strong wind, which is common at Krokiew. Tickets show 13:00 (15:00 on Friday), well ahead of the start. Last season the gates opened at 11:30 on Saturday and 13:00 on Sunday. The World Cup has come to Zakopane every season since 2002, and last January the organisers expected up to 17,500 fans over the weekend.
Tickets: prices and where to buy
| Day | Tickets from |
|---|---|
| Friday 15 January, qualification | 114.90 PLN |
| Saturday 16 January, team event | 214.90 PLN |
| Sunday 17 January, individual event | 214.90 PLN |
These are the cheapest places in the official sale on eBilet. Seats in the stands cost more, standing places below the jump less. Resellers usually charge noticeably more for the same ticket. Read the event rules when you buy: at past editions tickets carried the holder's name and were checked against ID at the gate, and there were no reduced tickets, so children needed their own.
Friday's qualification is the cheapest way to see the jumpers up close and a good choice with children: fewer people and a shorter session. The Saturday and Sunday competitions sell out first.
Road closures and buses on competition days
The town and the police announce traffic arrangements for 2027 just before the event. Last season, at the World Cup on 10–11 January 2026:
- from 8:00 on Saturday, Bronisława Czecha and Piłsudskiego streets were closed to cars, and Zwierzyniecka between Szymanowskiego and Piłsudskiego,
- traffic on Szymanowskiego between Zwierzyniecka and Piłsudskiego was restricted,
- bus line 16 ran on a different route and skipped the "Centralny Ośrodek Sportu" and "Skocznia" stops,
- the chairlift up Wielka Krokiew was closed to tourists from 5 to 12 January,
- the police decided the exact extent of the closures on the day, depending on crowds and road conditions.
In short: you cannot drive to the jump on competition days, and buses do not stop by it. Stay within walking distance, leave the car where you sleep and walk. If you come from Krakow on Saturday morning, allow for traffic on the Zakopianka road, because the same weekend is the start of the Polish winter school holidays in six regions. Trains and buses are covered in Krakow to Zakopane.
What you can bring
The World Cup is a mass event with security checks at the gates. You cannot bring in:
- alcohol,
- pyrotechnics, including flares and firecrackers,
- drinks in glass bottles or cans,
- dangerous items such as knives or metal bars.
Drones are banned around the ski jump. Flags and scarves are welcome. The full list, including any limits on drinks and flasks, is in the event rules attached to the ticket, so read it before you set off. Fireworks are banned in public places in Zakopane all year round.
What to wear in January
You stand in one place for several hours, and the competitions start at dusk, since the sun sets around 16:00 in mid-January. January is Zakopane's coldest month: about 1°C by day and -7°C at night on average (Polish weather service norms for 1991–2020), and it is often windy below Krokiew.
- Layers: thermal underwear, a fleece and a warm jacket.
- Warm boots with thick soles and spare socks. Feet get cold first.
- Hat, scarf, gloves and hand warmers.
- A charged phone and a power bank. Batteries drain fast in the cold.
- Ice grips for your shoes if there is snow or the pavements are icy.
Walking from Willa Storczyk to Wielka Krokiew
Willa Storczyk is at Droga na Bystre 1, about a 10-minute walk from Wielka Krokiew. You walk past the COS sports centre and do not need to cross busy Krupówki. On competition days this matters: your car stays in our free car park, you do not have to hunt for parking near closed streets, and after the competition you walk home before the crowd reaches the bus stops.
Between competitions you can relax in the thermal baths, about 15 minutes' walk from us, or ski on Nosal, 9 minutes away. The bus to Kuźnice leaves 200 metres from the house. See Zakopane in winter and the thermal baths guide.
Wielka Krokiew and COS
Wielka Krokiew is run by COS, the Central Sports Centre and Olympic Training Centre in Zakopane. A few days before the World Cup, COS hands the jump over to the organiser, the Tatra Ski Association. Outside the World Cup, national teams train here, other competitions are held, such as the Continental Cup, and in spring there are shows like Red Bull Skoki w Punkt.
COS also has swimming pools, saunas and a gym, about 350 metres from our house. Athletes, clubs and school groups come here for training camps, often with parents. If you are visiting COS for a camp, a competition or training, staying with us means a short walk instead of driving across town.
